He was an avid soccer play and
fan since the age of live. He played
on the Shelton High School soccer
team and the select level club team
Thurston County Inferno U-16
League, where he competed in
staterlevel tournaments. As a
soccer fan, he followed the English
Leagues.
Paul also played trombone in
eighth grade band. He played
basketball on the Sophomore C
Squad.
He was a member of the First
Baptist Church and the High School
Youth Group. He also belonged to
the South Mason Youth Soccer Club.
He enjoyed mountain biking,
skiing, and computers. He read spy
novels and was fascinated by World
War II history. His favorite teams
were Penn State, the Denver Bron-
cos, and the Atlanta Braves.
His family said he “won a special
place in the hearts of friends and
family with his warm and open
humor.” His friends said he could
always make them laugh. His family
remembers his portrayal in this
year’s family Christmas nativity play
Paul is survived by his parents,
Pastor Greg Scandrett of the First
Baptist Church, and Linda Scan-
drett, an elementary teacher at
Evergreen School, both of Shelton;
one sister, Traci Ann, a student at
George Fox College, Newbery, 0re.,
a brother, Brad Michael, a student
at Shelton Highjsehool; his grand-
parents, Harold and Bonnie Young-
berg, Keizer, Ore, and Rev. Warren
and Dorothy Scandrett, Colorado
Springs, 001.; also numerous aunts,
uncles. and cousins.
A memorial service for Paul will
be held at pm. Wednesday, Jan. 4,
in First Baptist Church, Shelton.
Pastor Gale Ashby of the Shelton
Christian Fellowship Church and
Pastor Steve Hill of the First Baptist
Church will ofiiciate.
The family suggests memorial
donations may be made to the First
Baptist Church Paul Scandrett
Memorial Fund, or to the South
Mason Youth Soccer Club, PO. Box
2273, Shelton, Wash. 98584, for the
development of the proposed soccer
park.
