Pacific Grove Heritage Society 605 Laurel Ave. Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Gentlepersons, Information from my late father would lead me to question the contents of at least one of your residence markers, specifically, the one at 325 Eardley. Once, in passing, my father mentioned that the plague naming N.C. Cumings, 1908, was akin to someone putting up a marker with a Kaufman & Broad designation. Apparently Mr. Cumings built the house to sell, which he did-to my grandparents, Richard F. and Rhoda W. Dirk, who were its first occupants. Unfortunately I have no proof of this, other than my father's memory, and the earliest photo I've seen was taken about 1912 or 1913 of all the children (my father and aunts and uncles). Please understand, this is not a complaint. I just thought you'd like to know what the memory of one of the house's early occupants was.
