, A native of the \Vest Coast,
Schuyler became art director at sev- :
enll moving-picture studios in the'
region before moving to New York
City in 1935 to continue his studies
with the Art Students League. I
In 1940, Schuyler joined the Army;
and was retired as a Captain in
1945 after being wounded in Europe.
After that, he worked as newspai>~r
staff artist with both the Boston
Herald and the P~iladelphia In-
quirer,while also exhibiting paint-
ings in Boston, Washington, New
York and Philadelphia. He was also
Head of the 'Art Department at
Steubenville College..
Some of Schuyler's most outstand-
ing work "hangs in the permanent
collection' of the National Palace at
Mexico City, including 'his portrait
of President Ruiz ·Cortines :and"

statesmen. He is the only American
artist who has been honored·with
