Republic Services and the city’s PublicWorks staff helped unload hundreds of vehicles full of garbage at Cavelero Mid High School on Saturday, May 7 for the City Annual Clean-Up.
Dozens of members of local service clubs also helped clean up the streets around the city.
Lake Stevens is a much clean-
er place after last weekend’s an-
nual city wide clean-up.
Residents cleaned out ga-
rages, closets and yards while
local clubs and service groups
joined Mayor John Spencer in
cleaning local streets, parks
and around streams.
The day started at 8:30 a.m.
as Republic Services brought
dozens of their garbage trucks
in and out of Cavelero Mid
High School as folks all over
Lake Stevens dumped their
trash and spruced up their
yards and homes.
Cars lined the street at the
school until after the 1 p.m.

“It was a fantastic day,” May-
or John Spencer said. “Loads of
people came through and Re-
public Services was on top of
it. Our Public Works staff has
been working hard all day. I’ve
never seen so much waste be-
ing hauled away so efficiently.”
City wide clean up brings cleaner streets, houses
Lundeen Park has been
getting a face lift in the past
months and it is noticeable
even from the street. The old
Ranger station, which has been
in the park for decades, is now
visible to passersby because of
the clean-up of huge trees and
bushes.
The newly renovated build-
ing has become the city’s new
Business Center and also the
Greater Lake Stevens Chamber
of Commerce has put their of-
fices inside the building.

used and beloved park within
the city.
Mayor John Spencer, who
was on the city council at the
time of the budget approval,
is thrilled about the vast im-
provement thus far at the park.
“During the summer last

park wasn’t well cared for,”
