Hotel and the Granite Falls Hotel, There
are six saloons and two restaurants.
Granite Falls also boasts of having a mine
in its vicinity, three miles up the M, C.
,R. R., The Wayside, which has produced
some very rich mineral.
The public buildings are two school
houses. the main one being as fine as any
in the country. Woodman Hall and Athletic
Hall. The city has a public park which
was presented to it by one of the pioneers,
'Wllllam Turner.
' EWe‘have electric lights, telephones, chem-
icnlr'fire extinguisher engine, many graded.
gravcled nnd sldewalked streets, and the
town is in advance of any other town of
its size in the country in this respect.

The many social features make Granite
Falls a very desirable place to live.
The different orders that are in a flour-
ishing condition are M_ W. A. and Royal
Neighbors, W. O. W, and Women of Wood-
('rni't. Odd Fellows and Rebeccas, National
Protective Legion. The Odd Fellows are
preparing to build a two-story hall 50x80
of concrete.
There are two
and Catholic.
The town owes its prosperity to the many
natural resources and the industries which
have been built up by the energy of its citi-
zens. Among the industries may be men-
tioned the Swartz shingle mill, one double
block three miles from town; Heath shingle
churches, Congregational
