Jack A Rawding
Jack A Rawding, 88, died
March 23, 2012, at Provi-
dence St. Peter’s Hospital
in Olympia with family
beside him. He was a long-
time resident of Shelton.
He was born Feb. 5,
1924, in White River, 8D.
to William and Gertie
Rawding.
He attended Shelton
High School.
He served in the US.
Navy from 1943 until 1946.
He served most of his time
in the South Pacific on
an aircraft carrier, USS
Nehenta Bay. He was
awarded numerous combat
medals.
He married Beryl Leon-
ard on Jan. 18, 1947, in
Shelton.
He owned his own oyster/
clam farm in Totten Inlet
that he purchased in 1950
and also built his own home
there on the bay, where he
lived until his death.
He was a member of the
Griffin Fire Department
for many years. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, camping,
going to Arizona and time
spent with his family and
friends.
He is survived by his
wife Beryl; son Ross Rawd-
ing (Shelley); daughter Pam
Jones (Len), all of Olympia;
seven grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren.
His parents, his two
brothers William and Bob
and sisters Ruth. vaina,
Augusta and Esther pre-
ceded him in death.
His memorial service
will be held at 11 am. on
Saturday at Cornerstone
Presbyterian Church at
218 Overhulse Road N.W.,
Olympia. Following the
service friends and fam-
ily are invited out to Ross
Rawding’s for lunch.
