Brewster, WA, formerly a 52
year resident of Shelton, WA.
went home to our Lord, Dec.
9th, 2003. Eva was born Nov.
22, 1920, in Salt Lake City, UT,
to Hannah Laura Hansen and
Joseph Claire Carson.
As a young girl, her family
moved to Yachats, Oregon,
where her family owned and
operated a dairy farm and saw-
mill. Eva graduated from high
school in 1937 and attended
Oregon State University and
Monmouth College of Educa-
tion where she received her
Masters Degree in Education.
Eva met her husband,
Vincent (Jim) Santamaria,
while he was stationed with the
US. Army at Newport, Ore
egon. They were later married
at Fort Lewis, Washington on
June 5, 1943. While Jim was
stationed overseas, Eva re-
turned to the Oregon Coast
where she continued teaching
until Jim was honorably dis-
charged. Eva and Jim then
lived a short while in
Bremcrton before moving to
Shelton in 1948, where they
made their home until Jim's
death in 1999. They celebrated
56 years of married life to-
gether.
a" Eva had a dedicated and re-
warding 37 year career teach
ing elementary school. includ-
ing 34 years in the Shelton
School District. where she
taught two generations of stu-
dents while at Bordeaux El—
cmentary School, She retired in
1984 leaving more time for her
hobbies, which included garr
dening, writing poetry, and eroe
cheting. She delighted in share
ing the “fruits" of her labors
with family and friends. Eva’s
loves in her life were her faith,
her husband, “Jimmy", family,
and friends,
Eva is survived by two chil-
dren, a daughter, Kathleen,
(Ron) Lee, Chelan, WA., a son,
Joseph (Lori) Santamaria of
Auburn, WA., four grandchil-
dren, Steven (Janelle) Lee, Jen~
nifer (Brian) Lewis, Spokane,
WA., Jacob Santamaria and
Isaac Santamaria, Auburn,
WA., two great-grandchildren,
Nathan Lee and Anna Lee,
three brothers, Joseph (Adah)
Carson, Raymond (Della Rae)
Carson, Ralph (Betty) Carson,
one sister, Blanche Simpson of
OR. Eva was proceeded in
death by her husband, Vincent,
her parents, sisters, Ida Leeper,
Zelma Lockwood, and brother,
Leonard Carson,
Visitation and viewing will
be from 10:00 am. to 11:30
am, Tuesday, December 16,
2003 at St, Edward’s Parish in
Shelton, WA, The funeral Mass
will take place at 12 noon, with
the burial immediately follow»
ing the Mass. A luncheon will
be served by the St. Edward’s
Parish Altar Society in the Far—
ish Hall. Memorial contribu-
tions may be made to the
“Saint’s Pantry" (local food
bank), in care of St, Edward’s
Parish, or a charity of your
choice.
